Why We Should Support RUTO and other Like-minded Leaders

Like in the United States, Kenya has sunk deep into depression. If there is one thing our next President should address, then let it be the issue of economic depression. We’ve had Presidents whose primary focus have been infrastructural development. Apart from Senior Kenyatta and President Moi, the other two Presidents have been more concerned with Kenya’s infrastructural development. As much as the debt levels during Moi’s era were fairly manageable, the rate of growth was albeit rather slower. In the era of UhuRuto, we have seen a proactive and overambitious government, which has improved the status of our country in terms of ICT, Education as well as Economy. Needless, to say, this government has done a lot that shall only be realized in future.
Nevertheless, this government has also gotten away with a lot. Jubilee government is to blame for unimaginable levels of corruption in the government and parastatals. Money lost during this government runs into hundreds of billions or perhaps trillions. However, many do not understand that tough economic times oftentimes compel even individuals with better livelihoods to steal. The government is full of individuals out to do anything for clout. On the contrary, the public have been forced to believe that Ruto is responsible for all the corruption witnessed in the government.
To date, Ruto is the only leader who seems to be conscious of democracy, education, unfair taxation laws as well as a raft of issues that directly touch on common men and women. Unlike other national leaders who are not even reachable, Ruto has managed to keep in touch with the ordinary citizens. He has consistently exhibited charisma even in the midst of unwavering political storms.

Although he gets worked up at times, we have to compare these leaders and only go for a better option. What we want from the next President is someone with whom we can relate, someone who can change the lives of a common man, someone who understands what being poor is. You must admit that none of the elites against Ruto understand what poverty means. There are a bunch of leaders fooling and constantly hoodwinking the ordinary citizens with the view of remaining relevant.
One of the things that people have failed to notice is that Ruto does most of his things right here in Kenya. He doesn’t hide his family somewhere in United States or Switzerland like the other politicians do.

His children have schooled here with us and none of them slangs. He has kept the image of a statesman and an opportunist. He is into politics to help many Kenyans contrary to the belief that he is selfish and corrupt. Ruto has property known to many; nothing to hide. He is the only one who has worked hard to make his political name with little support. However, most of us still believe that he is not fit to be President.
Anyone would want their leader to fight for them in their community before fighting for the entire country. The irony is that Kalenjins demand more from Ruto just as much as Kikuyus demand from Uhuru. Standing with his people does not mean tribalism. He is naturally a fighter and a leader. Before we forget, he is one of the few who fought hard for ODM in 2007. Truth be told, ODM had to have someone like Ruto to remain relevant. We needed brave men who could stand their grounds and get away with the bargains. Unfortunately, the country got wounded and he ended up being one of the suspects.
Kenyans are indeed frustrated and tired of same old leaders every season. As much as we believe that some of these leaders are good, we also must accept that there must be a time to leave the dance floor. We need leaders who are not manacled by historical debts, held hostage by their old buddies and pushed by dynasties. We do not want ceremonial leaders who are secretly puppeteered behind the curtains. We want leaders who can fulfill their promises, stand with the youths, act without prejudice and favor of one tribe. We want a leader who is reachable, whose bodyguards do not push and kill people. We need a leader who is astute, energetic and confrontational when need be. We do not care how many politicians will rally support for Ruto but there are many youths from every corner of the country, who yearn to see Ruto on the throne.
